Loving care for women, by women.
Meet the Team
Owner + Midwife
Brianna Curtis, CPM
Midwifery has been a part of Bri's family for generations, dating back to the late 1800s, making her a 4th generation midwife. Witnessing her mother give birth at home in 1994 sparked a deep connection to birth and a lifelong passion for midwifery. Bri began assisting her mother with births in 2006, solidifying her calling to this profession. After traveling and raising her own children, she pursued midwifery school and has since delivered over 1,200 babies as a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. Bri finds profound joy in supporting families through the transformative journey of birth and cherishes each unique experience.
Midwife
Ashton Swaringen
Ashton, a Colorado native, moved to Texas in 2009 and has been happily married to her husband Matt since 2013. They have two daughters, Emily and Violet. In 2020, Ashton began her midwifery journey by enrolling in the Association of Texas Midwives School, completing her apprenticeship and earning her certification in 2023. She is now a NARM Certified Midwife and Licensed Midwife in Texas, and is working towards her Lactation Counselor certification to better support breastfeeding mothers. Outside of midwifery, Ashton enjoys reading, music, podcasts, and her latest passion, rock climbing. She is thrilled to serve families at The Center for Birth and Wellness.
Director
Darlene Curtis
Darlene began her midwifery journey in 1991 and opened her private practice in 1999, quickly establishing a busy and popular birth center. Over her 20-year career, she welcomed over two thousand babies while raising five children. In 2014, when her body could no longer keep up with the demands of midwifery, Darlene lovingly handed over her birth center to her daughter, Bri Curtis, finding great joy in watching Bri grow into an incredible midwife. Throughout her career, Darlene served on the Board of Directors for a national midwifery organization and created the first state-sanctioned QA/QI Program, earning her the Outstanding Merit Award in 2000. She's thrilled to be part of the Fort Worth community and looks forward to providing exceptional care alongside her family once again.
Office Manager
Kristina
Kristina has joined Brianna on her latest venture and serves as the office manager for the Center for Birth. With nearly four years of experience in this role, she truly loves the job and the team she works with. Passionate about women’s health and helping families grow, Kristina is excited to support the families of DFW during such a special time in their lives. A married mom of two, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering with children at church. She values the relationships she builds with clients, making her work feel more like a passion than a job.
Medical Assistant
Kallie
Kallie is the medical assistant at the Center for Birth and has been working as an MA for three years, most of which has been alongside Midwife Bri. She particularly enjoys phlebotomy but is always ready to help her team in any way she can because she believes that teamwork makes everything possible. After giving birth to her first daughter in 2020, the positive experience with her midwives inspired her to pursue this field to support others. Kallie feels blessed to be part of such an amazing community and knows this is where she belongs. Outside of work, she enjoys being a mom to two beautiful girls and loves farmers markets and sushi.
Sonographer
Lea
Lea has been a sonographer for four years and loves her job, especially the joy of seeing people experience their baby for the first time. In 2020, Lea married her one and only. Last year, she scanned over 3,500 babies, and she feels fortunate to work with such amazing patients and coworkers, who have become some of her closest friends. Lea is excited to be part of the team at the Center for Birth. She can't wait to scan and watch your growing belly!
